ARCHIVING

SEMICOLON supports LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe). A system for permanently and securely archiving journals. LOCKSS is open source software developed at the Stanford University Library that enables libraries to safeguard selected journal websites by regularly collecting backups of newly published content from registered journal websites and archiving them. Each archive is continuously validated against other library caches, and if content is found to be corrupted or missing, other caches or journals are used to re-store it.
